Whenever I teach, talk, research or discuss anything relating to mental health I am always stuck by the fact that keeps coming up again and again – minority groups, such as LBGT+ are at a higher risk of experiencing poor mental health, including depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harm and alcohol and substance misuse.
So, I am reaching out. To anyone who works in the construction industry who either identifies with the LGBT community and/or anyone who wants to help us make the positive changes we need.
We had a fantastic day yesterday at Boughton Golf Club raising money for 4th Gillingham Sea Scouts, Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex, Versus Arthritis, Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity and Darent Valley Hospital: Little Buds Fund as part of our Lighthouse15K campaign.
We are delighted that we raised £5,000 for the charities and would like to thank all the players that came along, those that donated to our raffle & auction, and of course to our sponsors A&A Electrical, All Health Matters Ltd, Gullands Solicitors, Porsche Centre Tonbridge, Hi-Way Services Ltd & Wiltech Engineering Limited
NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health)have recently launched a new Learning Partner Programme.

Suicide prevention remains a universal challenge. Every year, suicide is among the top 20 leading causes of death globally for people of all ages. It is responsible for over 800,000 deaths, which equates to one suicide every 40 seconds.
Every life lost represents someone’s partner, child, parent, friend or colleague. For each suicide approximately 135 people suffer intense grief or are otherwise affected. This amounts to 108 million people per year who are profoundly impacted by suicidal behaviour.
At present we have glorious weather in the UK, however working in this heat isn't the same as relaxing in it, especially if outside. The HSE states that 4,500 skin cancers a year are a result of outside working.
So, is there a maximum temperature in workplaces?
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 says that your employer must maintain a reasonable temperature where you work, but it does not specify a maximum temperature.
To celebrate our 15th year of business we are aiming to raise £15,000 for a selection of charities chosen by our team members.
Lighthouse Club Construction Industry Charity, Versus Arthritis, Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, Darent Valley Hospital - Little Buds (Special Care Baby Unit) and 4th Gillingham Sea Scouts
