Learners will be able to complete a fire safety risk assessment of a workplace. In particular, to:

  • Assess the adequacy of existing fire safety measures to control risk
  • Assess the risk of fire occurring

NEBOSH Fire Course Kent and London

Managers and supervisory staff who need to ensure that their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation. Courses leading to this qualification should equip holders to carry out fire risk assessments of most low risk workplaces and identify the range of fire protective and preventative measures required. It is therefore also suitable for people moving into fire safety adviser roles.

This qualification has a two-step assessment process which consists of:

An open book examination: you will be able to complete this at home or in another safe and suitable location where you can concentrate. You will be presented with a scenario that describes a realistic workplace and situation. You will then be asked to carry out a series of tasks using evidence presented in the scenario as well as the underpinning knowledge you have gained through your studies and revision.

You will have 24 hours to complete and submit your paper – though you should be able to complete it in 4-5 hours.

A practical fire risk assessment: the fire risk assessment has been developed around fire risk assessment standards such as the Home Office fire guidance and PAS79-1:2020.

The time needed to complete the fire risk assessment is not restricted. We do, however, recommend that you take around three hours to complete all four parts of the assessment. We feel that the three hours will allow you to show your understanding of the assessment requirements and complete a good quality fire risk assessment.

Both assessments will be marked by an external examiner appointed by NEBOSH. These examiners are chosen for their experience and expertise to ensure that learners are assessed by the very best from our industry.

We provide our NEBOSH Fire and Risk Management certificate as a five day block course with the exam after the 5 day instruction making our course 6 days in total.

Typical fees for open courses are £865 plus VAT per person at our training rooms in Rainham. However, this can vary for in-house courses.

Included in the course price:

  • Exam fees
  • Course publications
  • Stationery – pen, notebook, Lighthouse Safety bag
  • Refreshments (tea, coffee, water, juice, biscuits)

We run open courses regularly in our Training Centre in Rainham, Kent and Earlsfield South London that can be attended in person or remotely.

It pays to be selective when booking training courses because not all training providers are what they appear to be. When booking a NEBOSH Fire Course you need to feel assured that your training provider is fully accredited to provide that training and is not then going to sub-contract the work. Lighthouse Safety Training are a fully accredited Gold Learning Partner by NEBOSH to provide the NEBOSH Fire course and proof of that accreditation can be seen at our accreditation page.
