Safety concerns raised by Sea cadets death

Jonathan Martin, 14, died when a fall from more than 25ft caused fatal injuries. Marine Accident Investigation branch found that the sea cadet had fallen due to unclipping his harness from the wire which the ships sail is fastened to.

Recommendations were made by the MAIB in order to identify and address certain safety issues. A concern which was highlighted by the accident Investigators was the supervision of cadets when climbing masts and rigging.
