Proud to be a Bronze member of Armed Forces Covenant

At Lighthouse Safety, we have always been committed to fostering a culture of safety, integrity, and community support. We are proud to announce that we have taken a significant step in reinforcing our dedication to these values by becoming Bronze members of the Armed Forces Covenant. This membership marks a pivotal moment for us as we pledge our support to the armed forces community, recognising their invaluable contributions and sacrifices.

What is the Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation to ensure that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. It represents a commitment to ensuring that military personnel do not face disadvantages compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services. The Covenant also emphasises the importance of acknowledging and respecting the sacrifices made by military personnel.

Why We Joined the Covenant

Joining the Armed Forces Covenant aligns with our core values at Lighthouse Safety. We believe in supporting those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our nation. By becoming Bronze members, we are taking a proactive stance in providing practical support and opportunities to veterans, reservists, and their families. Our commitment includes:

  1. Employment Opportunities: We recognise the unique skills and experiences that veterans and reservists bring to the workforce. We are dedicated to offering employment opportunities that leverage their expertise and provide them with a supportive work environment.
  2. Training and Development: At Lighthouse Safety, we are committed to continuous learning and development. We will provide specialised training programs tailored to help former service personnel transition smoothly into civilian careers. Including packages created for use with ELCAS credits.
  3. Supportive Policies: We are implementing policies that accommodate the needs of reservists and their families, including flexible working arrangements and additional leave for training and deployment.
  4. Community Engagement: Our involvement goes beyond employment. We aim to actively engage with the armed forces community through outreach programs, fundraising events, and partnerships with military charities.

Our Commitment in Action

Becoming Bronze members of the Armed Forces Covenant is not just a symbolic gesture; it is a commitment to action. Here are some ways we plan to make a tangible impact:

  • Recruitment Drives: We will conduct targeted recruitment drives to attract veterans and reservists, showcasing the diverse career opportunities available at Lighthouse Safety.
  • Mentorship Programs: We will establish mentorship programs where our experienced staff can guide and support former service personnel as they navigate their new careers.
  • Awareness Campaigns: We will raise awareness within our organisation about the unique challenges faced by the armed forces community and promote a culture of understanding and support.
  • Partnerships: We will collaborate with military charities and organisations to provide additional resources and support to veterans and their families.

Looking Ahead

Our journey with the Armed Forces Covenant is just beginning. As we move forward, we are excited about the opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those who have served our country. We are committed to upholding the principles of the Covenant and ensuring that our actions reflect our gratitude and respect for the armed forces community.

By becoming Bronze members of the Armed Forces Covenant, Lighthouse Safety is not only enhancing its commitment to safety and community support but also strengthening its dedication to creating a fair and supportive environment for all. We look forward to working closely with the armed forces community and making a meaningful contribution to their well-being and success.

The Armed Forces Covenant

An Enduring Covenant Between
The People of the United Kingdom
Her Majesty’s Government
– and –
All those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the Crown And their Families

The first duty of Government is the defence of the realm. Our Armed Forces fulfil that responsibility on behalf of the Government, sacrificing some civilian freedoms, facing danger and, sometimes, suffering serious injury or death as a result of their duty. Families also play a vital role in supporting the operational effectiveness of our Armed Forces. In return, the whole nation has a moral obligation to the members of the Naval Service, the Army and the Royal Air Force, together with their families. They deserve our respect and support, and fair treatment.

Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services. Special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given most such as the injured and the bereaved.

This obligation involves the whole of society: it includes voluntary and charitable bodies, private organisations, and the actions of individuals in supporting the Armed Forces. Recognising those who have performed military duty unites the country and demonstrates the value of their contribution. This has no greater expression than in upholding this Covenant.

Conclusion

Lighthouse Safety’s Bronze membership in the Armed Forces Covenant marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to community support and recognition of the armed forces’ contributions. We are honored to stand with the Covenant and look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of service personnel and their families. Together, we can build a future that honors their sacrifices and supports their transition to civilian life.
