Life at Lighthouse Safety in June 2011

Once again a quick fire résumé of the work and life at Lighthouse over the last month.

Our National and International CPC courses were completed with candidates from our own course taking exams alongside candidates from other centres undertaking re-sits at our centre.

The ADR course (Transportation of Hazardous Goods) was well attended too. The demand for SMSTS courses has been high, seeing two completed off site, one here, and another two started again (one on site and one off site). Two SSSTS courses have also been successfully completed with demand continuing to be high for future courses. We have even completed a CIEH Food Safety Course and programmed another in also.

The consultancy side of our business has seen unprecedented demand; three Fire Risk Assessments, Two Premises Audits, countless site inspections and endless policy writing and Risk Assessments/Method Statements have been completed on behalf of our growing list of clients. In addition we have undertaken Pregnant Worker Risk Assessments and DSE assessments for some of our clients in London. Three clients this month have been reliant on our support to achieve SSIP status via SMAS and CHAS.

Our SOS service is still available, but yet to really take off, partly down to our main focus this month being the preparation of our NEBOSH application pack, which we will submit prior to the end of this month, therefore by the next time I report on our efforts we will hopefully be in a position to be able to say that we are a NEBOSH Accredited Centre.

Onwards and upwards!
