Life at Lighthouse Safety in April 2011

From Andrew Price – Managing Director

Over the last month we have seen the usual array of courses being run, in house and at clients’ locations, ranging from SMSTS x 2, SSSTS x 2 and FAW x 1, CIEH Manual Handling Course x1 and IOSH Managing Safely Course x 1, along with the continuing SMSTS courses on Brompton Barracks as part of the Contract we have with Mid Kent College.

Of particular note, last month we tested the water by running a SSSTS course over the weekend, ie two Saturdays running, and we are pleased to say (much to our surprise) that they were well received and attended. Having proven that there is a market for courses out of the normal Monday to Friday rat race we will continue to offer weekend SSSTS training. In addition there is also scope to conduct First Aid Training and Abrasive Wheel training during weekends too, just ask!

While work continues at a healthy pace we are always keen to expand our clientele, therefore next month we will launch a new product called our SOS package (Small Organization Support) aimed at companies that have less than 5 employees. As soon as the details are finalized we will bring you this exciting news, and of course we would be very pleased if you would help us in our endeavors in launching this product, by mentioning it to anyone that may benefit from our help.

Our consultancy work is keeping Stephen and Harry extremely busy, Pre Qualification Questionnaires, and work package method statements and risk assessments are becoming a daily activity, naturally they can be a little frustrating and time consuming too, while we ensure the information is them is accurate and correct, it remains hard to visualize what others ideas and approaches/requirements are, so please, if we are doing these on your behalf, the more detail you can furnish us with, the easier the whole process becomes.

I’d now like to take this opportunity to congratulate Harry and his good lady, on the birth of the second baby boy, who was born in the Medway Maritime Hospital on 6 April 2011, we wish them all good health and luck for the future.

As always, if you would like to add to our workload and join a growing group of companies that rely on our support then please do contact us. We’ll be happy to discuss how we can exceed your expectations.
