Life at Lighthouse

Looking back on the past month we have managed to fit in a mountain of courses including SMSTS, SSSTS, IOSH Managing Safely, numerous drivers CPC’s, International CPC, SMSTS refresher, Fire Warden , Asbestos Awareness, Risk Assessment & Method Statement, First Aid, Directing Safely and a number of other bespoke courses tailored to company spec.

One thing I have noticed is more and more of you are asking for refresher courses.  This is obviously a cost effective way for you to keep that all important certification up to date.  The only problem is a large percentage of people who come to us are too late.  Their certificates have already expired and they need to do the full course again.  Don’t let that happen to you.  If it’s a ConstructionSkills course (SMSTS/PMSTS/SSSTS), you have 6 months from the expiry date on  your certificate to complete a refresher course. If it’s an IOSH course (Managing Safely) you cannot let the certificate expire before you book your refresh.  There is no leeway from the date of expiry.

I suppose the moral of this story is – don’t let your certificates expire – you could miss out on vital work while you re-take your full course.
