Driver CPC Module 1- Drivers Hours and Tachograph Rules

What is Driver CPC?

The Driver CPC is a scheme for LGV and PSV drivers who drive professionally in the UK. It has been developed to meet the requirements of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PSV drivers throughout their working life. All drivers, new and existing, will then have to undertake 35 hours of training every five years to ensure that their Driver CPC is current. This is known as periodic training.

Course Description

This module is aimed at teaching/refreshing the driver about driver’s hours and working time and the penalties involved both to the driver and the company’s Operator Licence along with instruction on how to use a digital and analogue tachograph unit.

Who Should Attend

Driver CPC is designed for all commercial drivers, holding a category C, C1, C+E or C1+E licence before 10 September 2009

Course Content

During the morning candidates will cover driving licences and entitlements along with how to use digital and analogue tachograph units properly. In the afternoon candidates will travel through the requirements of the EU Directive 561/2006 and GB Domestic Drivers Hours rules and requirements.

Assessment & Award

During the daily courses, to measure performance and teaching, the candidates will take a course quiz. There is no requirement to pass, nor to achieve a certain level. The only requirement is to complete 35 hours training.

At the end of the course the candidate will be presented with a certificate of attendance from Lighthouse Safety Training. Once all 35 hours has been achieved the driver qualification card will automatically be sent out by the Driving Standards Agency.

Please note that drivers who hold the old style paper licence will need to apply for a photo licence as soon as possible  as your driver qualification card cannot be issued until you have done this.  Please follow this link to get started.

This is one of 5 individual days that can be completed; each day consists of 7 hours of instruction. Each day will start at 8.30 am – 5 pm.

Cost

Individual days training are offered starting at £65 + VAT; this can vary for in-house courses (dependant on location and numbers etc).
