Course Description

This qualification, aimed at those who carry out manual handling at work, provides essential information about manual handling hazards and their control.

Who Should Attend

This course is essential for all employees who have to carry out any manual handling activities at work, whether regularly or from time to time, it is suitable for all industries, as it can be tailored to suit your specific requirements.

Course Content

Under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, employers are required to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to employees – this includes suitable training. The CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice combines both the theoretical and hands-on elements of the subject and teaches learners techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely within their individual capabilities. The course will cover how to identify and understand the risks associated with manual handling, the value of risk assessment and how to apply it, it will also make recommendations to manage risks and hence the candidate will be able to apply the principles of safer handling to a range of everyday manual handling tasks

Assessment & Award

The course assessment is by multiple choice examination paper, (Principles) and an additional practical session for candidates wishing to gain the Principles and Practice qualification. Successful candidates will receive the CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling either Principles or Principles and Practice dependant on the course taken.

Duration

To give you maximum flexibility it can be delivered as a half-day programme for learners who only wish to gain the CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling.

Those who need to learn about practical manual handling techniques should stay on for a further half-day training session and assessment to gain the full CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice.

Cost

Charges are dependent on the number of candidates (minimum of 6), and travel distance, but are based around £95 + VAT per person for Principles and an extra £35 & VAT for the combined Principles and Practice.

Venue

This course could be run at our Training Centre in Rainham, Kent but is typically run at client locations throughout the UK.
