CIEH Level 3 PTLLS course

Via our new Sister Company Lin Talbot Training we’re now happy to announce we are able to offer the CIEH Level 3 PTLLS course.

This qualification sets the minimum standard for all those in or entering the teaching, learning and development sector. It introduces the knowledge and skills required by teachers to develop and deliver programmes, provide learning support and take responsibility in managing the learning process in post-16 education.

Anyone entering teaching or training roles or already in-service who needs to achieve the minimum threshold status as a teacher within the following:

• Further education college

• Adult and community learning centres

• Work-based learning or training organisation

After 2010 anyone who teaches courses that are publicly-funded has to be qualified. This qualification meets the basic minimum standard for those entering the lifelong learning profession and confers a threshold licence to teach. The Learning outcomes include:

• Understand your own role

• Responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching

• Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within a specialist area

• Demonstrate your session planning skills – plan, deliver, observe and evaluate a micro-teaching session

• Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions that motivate learners

• Understand the use of different assessment methods

• Understand and analyse the need for accurate record keeping and procedures that can be adopted – including internal and external assessment information.

1 Day Train the Trainer Epilepsy Awareness – 19 June 2012

Via our new Sister Company Lin Talbot Training we’re now happy to announce we are able to offer an epilepsy train the trainer course.

This course will teach trainers the skills and knowledge they need to effectively deliver the subject of epilepsy to their in house staff or to a group or audience of non employed staff. It includes all training material, lessons plans, PowerPoint slides and video media required to deliver an effective training day. In other words it will enable a trainer to be self sufficient in the delivery of epilepsy awareness. Course dates will be announced shortly and will be charged @ £250 + VAT. NEBOSH General Certificate

Our next NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health will commence on the 30th of July leading into the national exams on the 9th of September 2012. Places are limited and are currently being charged at £950 & VAT is being held in our Training Centre in Rainham, Kent.

Our NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety training course outlines general health and safety responsibilities. It provides a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study and is a Level 3 qualification.

International CPC Upgrade

International CPC Upgrade

Since the change in the syllabus and testing for the National and International CPC, some confusion over who has the ability to upgrade or not. Please read this carefully and decide whether you are able to upgrade or not.

If you obtained your National CPC:

If you have obtained your NATIONAL CPC prior to October 1999 you now have to complete the entire set of tests for the International CPC- THERE IS NO UPGRADE

If you have obtained your National CPC after October 1999 you now have the year of 2012 to upgrade to the International CPC taking the original Unit 6 Test. After this year has passed if you have failed to achieve the upgrade, but you still require the qualification, there will be NO UPGRADE OFFERED and the full set of International CPC tests will need to be completed.

If you have completed parts of your National CPC but not all:

Unfortunately the time frame has passed for your completion of National CPC as OCR have removed the National CPC tests and certification. If you wish to achieve the CPC qualification you are now required to complete the International CPC.

If you are starting from scratch:

Then you start on the new test format of one multiple two hour test and one two hour case study exam which has also been approved for the candidates to use their workbooks (open book exam)

SSSTS Refresher Course Rainham, Kent – 16 Dec 11

Lighthouse have scheduled the first two separate dates for the newly released SSSTS 1-Day Refresher Course, more dates will follow in the new year but for now; we have the following two available:

• 16 Dec 11
• 15 Feb 12

PMSTS Course, Rainham, Kent – 12-16 Dec 11

Demand has necessitated a change in date for our next PMSTS course, it was scheduled to run over the period 5-9 Dec 11, but has now been shifted to one week later ie 12 -16 Dec 11.

We are having enquiries and bookings CPCS Instructors that are in desperate need for the PMSTS qualification and are experiencing great difficultly in sourcing the PMSTS course elsewhere.

Therefore to maximise the availability and chance for the course to run at acceptable numbers we have taken the decision to delay the start.

We know from talking to prospective candidates that this course is required for their job and that it is like finding the preverbal rocking horse …. so, Lighthouse are pulling out all stops to ensure that our clients get the course they need, when they need it and at an attractive price @ £585 + VAT, inclusive of books, certification, refreshments and buffet lunch.
